Arzak Restaurant

Filed under: Restaurant review — AnaM @ 10:24 am

Quite unusual for a restaurant that practices classic spanish cuisine to receive a Michelin Star, let alone 3. But Arzak has done it, and the award is very well deserved. A cozy establishment on the outskirts of San Sebastian that, I recently found out, has been a place appreciated by the locals for its delicious meals and fine service for about 50 years now. The affair is ran in the family, adding an “at home” feel to the experience. Staff is friendly and serves with a smile. The cuisine is deeply within Basque traditions, with fine tunes and small improvements made by the chef, a world renowned cuisine guru with a taste for reinventing dishes. My favorite was the pigeon with the white sauce. The baby carrots and beans garnish was just wonderfull. My girlfriend liked the dessert, a chocolate fondue. All for about 110 pounds per person. Quite much, but well worth it.
